COMMENT POLICY
The Gang Enforcement Company seeks to be a professional platform for both gang awareness and law enforcement education, which means we must enforce some rules to make sure everyone has a voice but us able to share that voice in a professional manner. The comments section is intended to foster discussion, debate, and yes, even disagreement among engaged and informed readers; it is not intended as a place to antagonize, belittle, or objectify our subjects, writers, or audience. We hope that all of our readers will observe The Golden Rule when commenting on the site, but in case they don’t, we reserve the right to delete comments or ban commenters that engage in any of the following:
Above all, we encourage our commenters to be respectful, open-minded, and passionate when interacting with their fellow citizens and/or criminal justice professionals. You can report a comment to [email protected]
- Ad hominem attacks on other commenters, writers, or subjects regarding their appearance, intelligence, race, odor, sexuality, or any other qualities not relevant to the discussion at hand.
- Offensive or inflammatory language that is intended to offend or inflame. Certain controversial words or sentiments may occasionally be used in the context of intelligent discussion, but should under no circumstances be used to demean or insult others.
- You are welcome to attack each other's ideas, but we won't tolerate insults or threats to our readers. If you feel like a comment is out of line, click "report abuse" and we'll review it.
- Remarks we perceive as racist, homophobic, or sexist—even those intended in jest. Sarcasm and irony don’t always translate to text, and if a comment can be interpreted as degrading or derogatory, it probably will be.
- All inappropriate comments that could constitute a threat to a public official will be reported to law enforcement for appropriate action.
- Stay on topic. We don't mind slight conversational drift, but don't hijack a thread altogether.
- Don't pretend to be someone else, pretend to be affiliated with someone you aren't or pretend you're not affiliated with someone you are. This includes, but is not limited to, using a handle that closely mirrors that of another forum member.
- Plugs for other websites or links/spam.
- Don't post anything that contains a virus.
- Posting material that infringes copyrights or any other intellectual property rights.
- Duplicate posts are subject to deletion.
- Blatant trolling and/or attention-seeking remarks. You’re better than that.
- Anything else that’s deemed needlessly hostile or detrimental to an engaged, informed discussion.
- There is no statute of limitations on abuse reports.
